Everything stops for tea!!!

Good Evening everyone and how are you???

Happy Saturday and Happy February on this my first post of the second month!!! I hope it has been a fun crafty day for you!!!

Before I go any further I must just apologise for not popping by to say "Hello" last night but circumstances unfortunately did not allow... It seemed very very odd not sitting down with my cup of tea for my nightly little chat with you all.

But tonight I am back after a fabulous demonstration at the Market Gallery in Poole - it was wonderful to see so many people!  Old friends and new faces were everywhere and it was so much fun!  I don't get over to see my lovely ladies there as much as I used to, though I can often found most month's "Treading the demonstration boards" at their Southampton store...  Ladies, I will try to get over to see you more often next year!!!!

Anyway, back to the title of tonight's post....  I don't know about you but I love a cuppa... preferably with a small slice... ok let's correct that... preferably with a LARGE slice of homemade cake!!!  Now my tea loving habits are well known among my friends and colleagues... so much so that my lovely team mates bought me a gorgeous mug and selection box of twinings tea for my birthday last year.  The mug now gets plenty of use in my craft room at home.  The box of yummy teas however lived a very short if enjoyable life!!!

Whenever I think of "tea and cake" of course I think of that thing that is so quintessentially English... a tea party with my girly friends, beautiful vintage china and a mismatched but equally gorgeous china teapot.  Ther must be cake stands over flowing with delicious homemade cakes, scones and pastries....  And if I am picturing my ideal tea party of course we will all be sat round a decorated table on a glorious summer day, bathed in sunshine with floral colour and bunting made from Papermania Capsule spots and stripes fat quarters everywhere around....  You've read about my dream kitchen in a previous post... and now you know what my ideal party would look like as I visualise it....

And it is this that inspired the design of one of my projects... A colourful, vibrant tea party invite.

It's no secret to anyone who knows me that right at this moment I LOVE LOVE LOVE the new Xcut Build a Scene dies!  The intricate detail in each scene makes for papercrafting designs that have WOW! factor in abundance.  And added to that each pack contains a myriad of possibilities if you remove and use the individual elements away from the big scene.

Of course being a tea lover it will come as no surprise that one of my favourite scenes is the Garden Party set.  With towers of cups, tea and coffee pots, jam jars, cakes and bunting there really could not be anything more reminiscent of the Mad Hatter's tea party in my view, which makes it even more attractive in my eyes! What fun and possibility for endless party designs this set holds!

In tonight's project I took just two elements from one of the dies - a cake on a stand with a jam pot and a vintage coffee pot - and used those to form my focal decoration.  Papermania Vintage notes rub ons - such a favourite of mine - create the eclectic sentiment and buttons, ribbons, gems and lace continue the fashionably old-fashioned theme...

I really hope you enjoy tonight's design and that shows you the versatility of these gorgeous die sets!!

Before I depart, I would just like to share a tip with you:

For all intricately detailed dies - whichever company they are made by - to allow the cut card to release from the die more easily pop a piece of greaseproof paper between the cutting edge of the die and the card you are cutting.

Anyway, I hope that after sharing tonight's design with you (there are more to come over the week) you will forgive me if I disappear and relax for the rest of this evening with my latest Craft Stamper magazine that Mr J kindly - as he so often does - treated me to this evening....

Oh yes and I'm going to catch up on "Wonders of Life" with Professor Brian Cox on BBC iplayer... perfect chilling time ready for another busy demo day again tomorrow at The Range in Gosport!!

So until tomorrow night and a new design, sleep tight everyone and lets chat again then!

Love and hugs
Becky
